Spring 2027 Theme

The World Within

Beneath every person, idea, organism, and system lies a hidden world waiting to be explored.

The World Within celebrates the unseen dimensions of life that shape our experiences and understanding. It is the world of thoughts and emotions, memory and imagination, microscopic structures and complex networks. It is the world beneath the surface, where discoveries begin, creativity takes root, and deeper meanings emerge.

For artists, this may mean exploring identity, perception, or personal experience. For scientists and scholars, it may mean uncovering the intricate mechanisms that govern living systems, societies, technologies, and the natural world. Across every discipline, there is a shared pursuit of understanding what is not immediately visible.

This year's theme invites contributors to look inward, dig deeper, and reveal the hidden stories, processes, and perspectives that shape our lives. Through research, art, writing, photography, and reflection, we seek to illuminate the worlds that exist within us and around us.

Whether examining the mysteries of the mind, the beauty of microscopic life, the complexities of human relationships, or the personal journeys that shape our identities, The World Within encourages us to explore what lies beneath appearances and discover the richness that exists below the surface.
